The CZ Shadow 2 is the undisputed heavy-hitter of the CZ 75 family. While the original Shadow was a duty gun tuned for competition, the Shadow 2 was built from the ground up specifically to dominate the USPSA Production and Carry Optics divisions. It is an all-steel, high-capacity masterpiece designed for maximum speed, pinpoint accuracy, and minimal recoil.
Extreme Weight & Balance: Weighing in at a massive 46.5 ounces (nearly 3 lbs), the Shadow 2 uses its bulk to stay virtually motionless during fire. Much of the weight is concentrated in the increased frame mass and the extended dust cover, which effectively kills muzzle flip.
Higher Bore Axis Control: The frame features a deeper undercut at the trigger guard and a higher-swept beavertail compared to the original Shadow. This allows your hand to sit even closer to the slide's centerline, giving you superior leverage over the gun.
The Competition Trigger: The Shadow 2 lacks a firing pin block, allowing for a legendary trigger pull. Out of the box, the Single-Action (SA) break is typically around 3.0–3.5 lbs with a reset so short it's often described as "telepathic."
Arid/Duralumin Grips: It is famous for its thin, checkered aluminum grips (usually in "CZ Blue"). These provide a very secure, non-slip purchase without adding unnecessary width to the grip.
HAJO Sights: It comes with a fiber-optic front sight and a "HAJO" rear sight (height adjustable, click-adjustable for windage), designed for rapid target acquisition.
As of late 2025 and into 2026, CZ introduced the Shadow 2 Carry. This is distinct from the Shadow 2 Compact:
Decocker over Safety: It features an ambidextrous decocking lever, making it safer for daily carry than the manual safety models.
Firing Pin Block: Unlike its full-size siblings, the Carry model includes a firing pin block to ensure it is fully drop-safe for defensive use.
Optics-Ready (Direct Mount): It features a direct-mount cut for the Shield RMSc footprint, allowing the red dot to sit low enough to co-witness with iron sights.
