Blue Guns are inert training replicas only. They are not real firearms, are non-functioning, and are intended strictly for training and instructional purposes.
The H&K UMP45 (Universale Maschinenpistole) was developed as a lighter, more cost-effective successor to the MP5 series. Specifically chambered for the hard-hitting .45 ACP cartridge, it was designed for police and military units who require significant stopping power in a compact, reliable, and easily maintainable package.
Blowback Operation: Unlike the roller-delayed MP5, the UMP uses a simple blowback system. To manage the recoil of the .45 ACP round without excessive weight, H&K utilized a polymer receiver and a bolt with an internal tungsten weight to slow the cyclic rate.
Advanced Polymer Construction: The receiver, magazine, and folding stock are constructed from high-strength, impact-resistant polymer. This significantly reduces the weapon's weight compared to all-steel submachine guns and makes it highly resistant to corrosion.
Reduced Cyclic Rate: The UMP45 fires at approximately 600 rounds per minute. This lower rate of fire makes the weapon much easier to control during fully automatic fire, especially given the recoil impulse of the larger .45 caliber round.
Integrated Accessory Rails: The UMP was one of the first SMGs designed with mounting points for MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails on the top, sides, and bottom of the handguard, allowing for the easy attachment of optics, lights, and vertical grips.
Stopping Power: The .45 ACP round provides superior kinetic energy and permanent wound cavities at close ranges compared to standard 9mm Parabellum, making it highly effective for short-range tactical entries.
Serviceability: The UMP consists of fewer parts than the MP5 and features a simple field-strip procedure involving a single takedown pin, making it easier for armorers to maintain in the field.
Maneuverability: Featuring a side-folding skeletonized stock, the UMP45 can be reduced to an extremely compact footprint for vehicle operations or concealed carry by plainclothes units.
Suppression Capability: Many UMP45 barrels are equipped with a "Flange" mount for the quick attachment of H&K-specific suppressors, allowing the operator to transition to stealth mode in seconds.
