The Walther CCP (Concealed Carry Pistol) is a striker-fired, polymer-framed handgun specifically engineered for ease of use and reduced recoil. Its most distinguishing feature is the use of a gas-delayed blowback system, a rarity in modern subcompact pistols, which allows for a much lighter recoil spring compared to traditional locked-breech designs.
SoftCoil Technology: The CCP uses a gas-delayed blowback system where high-pressure gases from the fired cartridge are vented into a cylinder under the barrel. A piston attached to the slide resists the rearward motion until the bullet leaves the barrel. This results in significantly less felt recoil and a slide that is much easier to rack—ideal for shooters with limited hand strength.
Fixed Barrel: Unlike most modern 9mm pistols, the barrel is fixed to the frame. This inherent design characteristic typically contributes to higher mechanical accuracy.
Ergonomics: The grip features Walther’s signature hi-grip cross-directional texturing and an ergonomic shape similar to the larger PPQ model, providing a secure and comfortable hold for various hand sizes.
Updated M2 Version: The original CCP required a specialized tool for disassembly. The CCP M2 (and subsequent M2+) updated the design with a tool-less takedown lever at the rear of the slide, significantly simplifying maintenance.
Sighting System: The pistol comes with a 3-dot sight system. Newer M2+ models feature a slide cut compatible with Glock-style sights, offering extensive aftermarket customization options.
Safety Features: It includes a manual thumb safety, an internal firing pin block, and a visible/tactile cocking indicator at the rear of the slide.
