The Philips HeartStart Adult SMART Pads Cartridge provides replacement defibrillation electrodes for the Philips HeartStart OnSite and HeartStart Home AEDs. The snap-in cartridge keeps the electrode pads and cable together for quick replacement and convenient AED maintenance.

M5071A Adult SMART Pads are intended for cardiac arrest patients 8 years of age or older or weighing at least 55 lb (25 kg).

Designed for the Philips HeartStart OnSite AED

The Adult SMART Pads Cartridge installs directly into the front of the HeartStart OnSite AED. Once properly seated, the cartridge remains connected and ready so the responder does not have to attach a separate electrode cable during an emergency.

When the AED is needed, pulling the green SMART Pads handle opens the cartridge and allows the responder to remove and apply the electrodes according to the illustrations on the pads.

Adult Patient Use

Philips specifies M5071A Adult SMART Pads for patients weighing 55 lb (25 kg) or more. For infants and children under 8 years old or weighing less than 55 lb, use the separately available Philips Infant/Child SMART Pads Cartridge M5072A.

The HeartStart OnSite automatically recognizes the type of SMART Pads cartridge installed and provides the appropriate rescue instructions and therapy for the selected patient type.

Replace After Use or By the Use-By Date

Adult SMART Pads are disposable and should be replaced after use during a rescue. They should also be replaced when they reach the manufacturer use-by date printed on the package.

As part of routine AED maintenance, periodically check the pad expiration date and keep the cartridge sealed until it is needed. Opening the sealed cartridge before an emergency can allow the adhesive gel to dry out.
