Blue Guns are inert training replicas only. They are not real firearms, are non-functioning, and are intended strictly for training and instructional purposes.
The CTS 7290 (manufactured by Combined Tactical Systems) is the industry standard for tactical "Flash Bangs." It is a non-lethal stun grenade used by SWAT teams, hostage rescue units, and military forces to temporarily disorient suspects. Unlike older designs that could move or "jump" upon detonation, the 7290 features a patented bottom-and-top venting system that keeps the device stationary when it goes off.
Sound Output: Approximately 170180 decibels (louder than a jet engine at takeoff). This causes temporary deafness and a loss of equilibrium by overstimulating the inner ear.
Light Output: Between 6 and 8 million candela. This results in "flash blindness" that lasts for several seconds, even if the suspect's eyes are closed.
Non-Fragmenting: The heavy steel body is designed to remain intact. Only the light and sound escape through the ports, minimizing the risk of shrapnel injuries.
Fuse Delay: Standard 1.5 seconds.
The 9-Bang variant is used in scenarios where a single "pop" might not be enough to suppress a roomsuch as large open areas or when multiple suspects are present. It delivers an arrhythmic series of flashes and bangs about 0.5 seconds apart, making it nearly impossible for a suspect to recover their senses between blasts.
Restricted Item: These are ATF-controlled Class-C explosives (Destructive Devices). In the United States, they are restricted to Law Enforcement, Military, and Government agencies.
Civilian Use: They are generally not legal for civilian purchase or possession without extreme licensing (FEL) and individual $200 tax stamps per device, and even then, manufacturers almost exclusively sell only to agencies.
Hazard Potential: Despite being "less-lethal," the 7290 generates massive pressure and heat. If deployed near flammable materials or directly against a person's body, it can cause severe burns, permanent hearing loss, or fatal injuries.
