The Honor Defense Honor Guard 9mm Sub-Compact (often referred to by model code HG9SC) is a striker-fired, semi-automatic 919 mm Luger pistol optimized for everyday concealed carry and personal defense applications. It is manufactured by Honor Defense, a U.S. company known for building 100% American-made firearms with veteran input into design and ergonomics.

Platform and Operating System

Caliber: 919 mm Luger (commonly known as 9mm).

Action: Striker-fired semi-automatic, recoil-operated design combining simplicity with consistent trigger performance.

Frame: Polymer frame with a modular stainless steel chassis for structural rigidity and ease of maintenance.

Safety Features: Incorporates a stainless striker block and firing pin safety mechanisms; no external manual thumb safety is standard on many variants but optional safeties exist.

Dimensions and Ergonomics

Barrel Length: 3.20 inches (81 mm).

Overall Length: Approximately 6.2 inches (157 mm).

Height: ~4.6 inches (117 mm).

Width: Approximately 0.96 inches (24 mm).

Magazine and Capacity

Standard Magazines Included: Two magazines

One 7-round flush-fit magazine.

One 8-round extended magazine with larger base plate for increased grip span.

Capacity is therefore 7+1 or 8+1 rounds in the chamber depending on magazine used.

Sights and Controls

Sights: Three-dot sight system with easy-to-acquire bright front dot and drift-adjustable rear sight designed to minimize snagging during draw.

Controls:

Ambidextrous magazine release for left- or right-handed operation.

Ambidextrous slide catch enhances usability for a wide range of shooters.

Disassembly for cleaning is designed to be performed without pulling the trigger or tools, enhancing safety and convenience.

Construction and Materials

Slide and Barrel: Stainless steel construction with a black ferritic nitro-carburized finish for wear resistance and corrosion protection.

Recoil System: Dual spring recoil assembly with stainless guide rods improves recoil management and service life.

Chassis: Removable CNC-machined stainless chassis houses internal fire control components, facilitating cleaning and potential frame replacement.

Performance and Handling

The Honor Guards subcompact form factor and balanced weight contribute to manageable recoil and controllability ideal for concealed carry and repeated practice sessions. The ergonomic grip texturing and interchangeable backstraps enhance user comfort and positive control under recoil.

Use Cases

This pistol is intended for:

Everyday Concealed Carry (EDC) compact dimensions and weight make it suitable for concealed carry platforms.

Personal Defense 9mm chambering with reputable magazine capacity and defensive ammunition compatibility.

Law Enforcement Back-Up Weapon (BUW) size and ergonomics align with typical undercover or off-duty carry preferences.
