Training Replica: TAURUS 24/7

The Taurus PT 24/7 is a series of semi-automatic pistols that marked the Brazilian manufacturer's major entry into the polymer-framed, striker-fired market. Designed for civilian self-defense and law enforcement backup, the 24/7 family is known for its innovative ergonomicsspecifically the "Ribber Grip"and its controversial history regarding safety recalls.

Key Engineering Features

• SA/DA Striker System: Unlike most striker-fired pistols (which are technically DAO), many 24/7 models feature a "Single Action / Double Action" system with second-strike capability. If a round fails to fire, the operator can pull the trigger again in double-action mode to attempt to ignite the primer a second time.

• Ergonomic "Ribber Grip": The grip features flexible, horizontal rubber ribs designed to mold to the shooter's hand, providing a high-friction surface and helping to absorb recoil.

• Ambidextrous Controls: Later generations (specifically the G2) feature fully ambidextrous slide catches, magazine releases, and manual safety/decocker levers.

• Taurus Security System (TSS): A keyed lock located on the frame or slide that allows the user to completely disable the firearm's action for long-term storage.

Evolution and Variants

• PT 24/7 Pro: The first major update, introducing the SA/DA trigger system and improved Heinie "Straight Eight" sights.

• PT 24/7 OSS: Developed for the USSOCOM service pistol trials. It features a 5.25-inch match-grade barrel, a decocker, and was designed to withstand extreme endurance testing.

• 24/7 G2 (Generation 2): A complete redesign that merged features from the 800-series. It added a trigger safety blade and improved modularity, including interchangeable backstraps to fit different hand sizes.

Critical Safety Note: The "Carter" Class Action Recall

The original PT 24/7 series (manufactured between 1997 and 2013) was part of a major safety recall and class-action settlement.

• The Issue: It was alleged that these pistols could fire unintentionally if dropped ("drop-fire defect") or even when the manual safety was engaged.

• Affected Models: Includes the original 24/7, Pro, and OSS models.

• The G2 Exception: Notably, the 24/7 G2 model was not included in the settlement and features an updated safety architecture designed to address these concerns.

Verification: If you own a non-G2 version of the 24/7, it is highly recommended to verify its status via the Taurus USA recall portal using the serial number.
