The Columbia Dentoform 1MJ3112CMQD is an adult periodontal training typodont featuring semi-transparent simulated gingiva, anatomically formed natural-root teeth and realistic calculus deposits. The translucent gingival material improves visibility of the underlying root surfaces, supporting structures and periodontal defects while students practice clinical instrumentation.
The model is designed to simulate periodontal conditions, including osseous and gingival defects associated with chronic generalized periodontitis. Its natural root contours and simulated calculus provide practical surfaces for periodontal probing, scaling, root planing and instrument-adaptation exercises. Columbia’s periodontal models demonstrate multiple periodontal case patterns and use removable, replaceable gingival components.
The MQD configuration adapts the model for Columbia Dentoform’s Magnetic Quick Disconnect Manikin System. This allows the typodont to be installed, removed or exchanged efficiently during laboratory sessions without repeatedly disassembling the complete manikin setup. Columbia documents MQD typodonts as models intended for use with its Magnetic Quick Disconnect Manikin System.
