Are you always prepared to administer First Aid, CPR or even administer the use of an AED? Do you consistently have the basic CPR or first aid supplies on your person? Have you let your CPR/AED Certification expire? Is your business ready to handle CPR and First Aid Emergencies on a large scale?
Here is a short checklist to help you prepare for emergency conditions, like those we witnessed yesterday.
Onsite Certified CPR Responder
Your CPR/AED Certification card is good for two years. Please take a minute to visit our training website and register for a CPR refresher course if needed. Consider having at least one certified CPR Responder present during business hours.
CPR Responder Supplies
OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Administration) recommends against any emergency response personnel from administering unprotected mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Take advantage of our current Easter sale, to stock up on all items in the CPR Mask and Keychains category. Use Coupon code EASTER to receive 10% off these items.
Personal Protective Equipment
Blood borne pathogens are a concern among all Emergency Personnel and CPR Certified Lay persons. Protect yourself by including at extra nitrile gloves, face shields or respiratory masks and glasses and/or goggles with you at all times to protect yourself during any type of emergency. During a large-scale emergency, these supplies will keep you safe and aid in your rescue attempts.
Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Is your AED in a visible and accessible location? Ideally, you should have enough AED’s place around the premises to get to any employee within 3 minutes. They should be clearly labeled and visible. Educate your staff that furniture and other bulky items are not placed in such a way as to hamper accessibility.
It is important to regularly inspect both the device and the supplies to make sure they are in good working order and not expired. Batteries and electrodes should be replaced every two years. It is a good idea to store rescue masks, nitrile gloves, antiseptic wipes, medical scissors or shears and a disposable razor with your AED. AED Inspection Tags inexpensive way to document the maintenance of your AED.
First Aid Kits up to Compliance
OSHA and ANSI changed the first aid kit guidelines last year. Please take a moment to peruse this handy chart and make inspect your first aid kits to ensure they measure up to the new guidelines and all contents are well within the expiration protocols.
