The current situation in Ukraine requires no introduction. Millions of people are being affected by the war within the country. The UN and partners have already reached more than 500,000 people with humanitarian assistance, including life-saving food, shelter, blankets, and medical supplies. Humanitarian aid is pouring in throughout Europe and the rest of the globe, with more and more required by the day.
A convoy of 11 trucks carrying 200 tons of aid from the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross) were sent to Vinnytsia, Ukraine where officials and volunteers can help distribute the supplies to the people of Ukraine. Even though this aid convoy is a positive development, it isn’t enough for all the vast humanitarian needs that ICRC teams are seeing affecting people in this conflict by the day. The need for medical equipment in war-torn areas of Ukraine stretches beyond bandages, with some areas lacking for vehicles to ferry the wounded. This has led some countries and groups to send much-needed emergency vehicles like ambulances to Ukraine. Israel sent four armored ambulances, Monroe County, NY has come together to send five ambulances along with firefighter turnout kits, Denmark who donated 18 ambulances along with medical supplies, throughout this conflict many nations of the world have come together to help people in need, but more help is still needed every day.
Millions of people have been forced to leave their homes and country amid Russian attacks. Around 3,489,644 people so far have become refugees leaving Ukraine. Many of these people are being forced to go to neighboring countries to seek shelter and safety. The majority of refugees have gone to Poland with more than 2 million Ukrainians there.
With so much need for humanitarian aid many of us are left asking ourselves, how can I help and what can I do, and there is quite a lot we can do as individuals to help. We can help donate supplies and money, below we will help provide links to organizations dedicated to helping Ukraine and ways to make a contribution, along with other resources on Ukrainian Humanitarian Aid.
